A graduate of the University of Florence, Italy, and The Institute of Fine Arts of New York University, Manfredi began his career in the art world in 1983 as director of L’Antiquaire & the Connoisseur Gallery in New York, focusing on Old Master Paintings and European Decorative Arts, two passions he has pursued for the last 30 years.

As a member of the Art Advisory Service Team of Citibank’s Private Banking for eight years in New York and London, he dealt directly with a clientele of prominent collectors. Acquisitions were made on behalf of clients with his expert counsel. He then joined Sotheby’s. As Chairman of Sotheby’s, Italy – with offices in London, Milan, and Rome – he supervised a staff of 60 people, while maintaining his keen focus on client relations and advisory counsel.

In March 2000, he founded MDG Fine Arts in London that provides art advisory services to private and corporate collectors seeking new avenues and opportunities in today’s complex art world. It also engages in Modern and Contemporary Art projects in Europe and the US.

His long field of art expertise and professional exposure to both sides of the Atlantic enables Manfredi to create synergies between American and European collectors, institutions, dealers and auction houses. Now, he is also in the position to offer his services as curator and mediator for exclusive clients.

Aside from his field of expertise in Old Master Paintings, he has extensive knowledge of Italian Furniture, European Decorative Arts, 19th Century Paintings, Sculpture and Photography. He is also an important presence in the 20th Century and Contemporary Art Market, both as a collector and an advisor. This combination of assets allows him to adapt to each client’s individual taste and needs. In 2008, Manfredi was awarded Art Advisor of the Year by Spear’s Wealth Management Survey.

For the last ten years, Manfredi has devoted his dynamic creativity to interior design, where his knowledge in the field of art and craft find the perfect match. His most recent project in New York – a 8,500 square foot apartment – is featured in Architectural Digest (August 2016). In the UK, his interior design assignments have included an Eaton Square house, a large Manor house in South Gloucestershire, and a London pied-a-terre. Meanwhile, in Tuscany, he has restored and re-decorated the ancient family Castle of Castagneto, a 55,000 square foot historic property (World of Interiors, April 2011). More recently, he also restored a Tuscan country villa using his eclectic blend of antique and contemporary décor. Manfredi’s London home was featured in the Italian edition of Architectural Digest (March 2015). Current projects include: a beach house on a Norwegian island, another country villa in Tuscany, a Georgian house in the English countryside.

His extensive travels and cosmopolitan life style allows Manfredi to keep abreast of ever-changing trends in the art market and the world of design. His fresh and distinctive approach to interiors – based on his historical knowledge of Italian art and European interiors – inspire him to create uniquely evocative settings that are both traditional and innovative.
